Shortcuts to living the peaceful life . .

I believe the following to be true:

1. The Butterfly effect is evident everywhere, all the time.  It does not need to be seen or even believed for it to make its mark.

2. We are where we need to be and with whom we need to share that space, every moment.  No exceptions.

3. Resilience means toughness.  Undefeated in spite of difficulties.  Being able to stand tall even though the attacks are unrelenting.

4. Willingness is the first necessary step to successful completion of any task or goal.

5. Laughing over the genuinely funny occurrences in one’s life as well as the more serious ones, makes all circumstances equal in their overall impact.  And that’s a good thing.

6. Forgiveness is surely a gift that shifts the entire human community.

7. Surrendering allows our fellow travelers to be whoever they choose to be.

8. Surrendering actually releases tension.   It changes how every circumstance feels.

9 .Vulnerably connecting with others is the only thing that can absolutely heal our ailing souls.

10. We can’t help but recognize love when we see it so freely expressed.

11. Putting our differences aside when we love each other benefits the world too.

12. Being kind is a choice that can be repeated as many times a day as necessary.

13. Don’t be stingy with kindness.  Offer it to everyone.

14. Detaching from others lets “them and us” live as we all should live.

15. We will find no peace of mind until we free others to live their own lives.

16. Being listened to is for many the first step on the path to healing.

17. It’s an art that needs constant practice.  And it creates its own payoff: intimacy.

18. Acceptance is the solution that changes the tenor of every stress-filled moment.

19. Acceptance, unfortunately, isn’t a natural response.  It requires a decision, then commitment, and lots of practice.

20. Not stepping in to take charge unless it’s ours to take is real growth.

21. Being controlling can look like being responsible if we aren’t careful.  And honest with ourselves.

22. We have met by design.  Our work here is by design.  Our legacy has been determined.
